Star on vuosina 1922-1928 valmistettu yhdysvaltalainen automerkki. Star-autoja valmisti Durant Motors -autotehdas. Vientimarkkinoilla Star-autot myytiin Rugby-nimisinä. Yhdysvaltain kotimarkkinoilla Star sijoittui Durant Motorsin halvimpaan autoluokkaan, johon keskiluokalla olisi varaa.

Durant Motorsin liikeideaan kuului käyttää paljon alihankkijoiden valmistamia osia. Näin myös Star-autoissa. Aluksi Star-autoissa oli nelisylinterinen moottori, vuodesta 1926 lähtien kuusisylinterinen moottori.

Vuonna 1928 loppui sekä Star- että Rugby-autojen tuotanto, jonka jälkeen autot myytiin Durant-merkkisinä. Muita Durant Motorsin automerkkejä olivat Flint, Locomobile ja kuorma-automerkki Mason.

Suomessa

Star-autoja tuotiin myös Suomeen. Vuonna 1927 Suomeen tuotiin 41 kappaletta Star-autoja [1]. Mobilisti-lehdessä 3/1993 on kuva Starista Suomessa 1920-luvun lopulla (s. 24) [2].

Vuonna 1928 (31.12.1928) Suomen ajoneuvorekisterissä oli 40 Star henkilöautoa [3].

Muuta

Star-merkkistä henkilöautoa valmisti Yhdysvalloissa neljä eri on autotehdasta, sekä lisäksi brittiläinen autotehdas.
