The DKW F 102 had a freewheel installed in the gear boxes main shaft. For the first batch of production the freewheel was manufactured by a company named Stieber. Later on, after DKW suffered technical problems due to slipping freewheels because of inadequate Transmission lubricant, the supplier was changed and Borg Warner was in charge of supplying the free wheels until the end of DKW-production in March 1966.
